Synthace is a London-based technology company developing Antha, a high-level language and operating system that brings all of the benefits of modern computing into laboratories. Synthace was founded in May 2011 by Sean Ward and Markus Gershater whilst they were completing their post-doc research at University College London (“UCL”), transforming the engineering of biology, for all its applications across health, food, energy and manufacturing, by streamlining the design, execution and analysis of biological workflows.

The vision of the Company is to take a more engineering approach to developing biotechnology, with an initial commercial focus on the biomanufacture of high value chemicals for the Life Sciences R&D market. Combining computation, biology and automation the company is able to rapidly develop robust, high yielding bioprocesses to make bio-based products.
